Oscar N. Onyema, OON, serves as Chairman of Idia Africa, bringing over three decades of experience in financial markets, corporate governance, and strategic transformation.
He is the former Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), where he led the demutualisation and restructuring of the Exchange into a profitable holding company structure, strengthening governance standards and driving sustained market performance.
Mr. Onyema has held leadership and board roles across global financial institutions, including the World Federation of Exchanges, New York Stock Exchange Group, NG Clearing Limited, and the London Stock Exchange Group. His expertise spans capital markets development, risk management, regulatory engagement, and institutional governance.
In recognition of his impact on African financial markets, he was named one of the “100 Most Influential Africans” by New African Magazine and was awarded the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
